Career Planning and Cost of Living - the Important Relationship.

In this unit of Career Development, we will take a look at evaluating "who we are" to make important decisions about our future career.

Project Outline:

PHASE ONE:  After conducting three interest/personality surveys you will research a chosen career and write a MLA style report on your findings. 

• Who are you? - Find out what careers match your personality and interests.

• Research your favorite career match. - Using MLA guidelines, write a repor

PHASE TWO:   After brainstorming possible expenses associated with independent living you will research and determine what your living expenses are based on your desired lifestyle (geographic location, type of housing, transportation, etc).

• What's it Cost? - Research how much the things you desire cost.  

  Create a Lifestyle Budget

PHASE THREE:  Using the results from your career research and lifestyle budget, you will evaluate your possible income/expenses, the practicality of your lifestyle in regards to the outlook of your career, etc and draw conclusions. 

• Connect the Dots. 

  How does your career interests align with your desired lifestyle - in regards to money, geographical location, and how you want to live.  Draw conclusions.

  Tell Us About It!  Make a movie!  Present your findings in the form of a movie.   How did things measure up?  What modifications will you need to make as you go along to achieve your goals?  Now, what are your short term and long term goals?
